Pozieres is a small village in the Somme valley in France and was the scene of some of the most bitter and costly fighting for Australian troops in 1916.
Sponsorship for $1000 is sought for a stone St Francis statue for the rose garden area at the war animal memorial Pozieres, France. The Statue is approx. 80cms high. St Francis is the patron saint of all animals.
Individual roses for the war animal garden can be purchased for $50 each. A total of 30 roses will be planted. AWAMO has developed in co-operation with a nursery in South Australia the “Official War Animal Rose” This rose is the Charles De Gaulle purple rose which has by permission been rebranded over the Centenary period.
An entrance gate and sign to the memorial will be constructed if funds permit. Sponsorship of $4000 is required for completion. This will be a made here in Australia of hard wood, crafted by chain saw by Australia’s leading carving artist.
